We are a group of people who are striving to breed better Boer goats, with a touch of color. Some of us are breeding for paints, some for solid reds or blacks, but all of us are breeding for the better meat goat.

What is a Boer goat, you ask? A Boer goat is a breed that develops very quickly, and becomes very large and heavy compared to other breeds. They tend to have very good muscular structure through genetics. Because of this, these goats make excellent meat goats. Very often Boer crosses find their way into the show ring for 4-H, FFA, and other youth groups as market animals.

This breed originated from South Africa, and has only became very popular in the United States in the mid to late 90’s. Their popularity has continued unabated. These goats are typically white with a red head, and darkly pigmented skin. Those of us seeking to breed them in various other color patterns understand that these are a meat animal, and the coat they wear does not reflect the meat.

While this website is nothing fancy, it will give you a place to find other breeders of these beautiful goats. Below you will find links to other breeders’ sites, single page websites for breeders, and some photos of our previous “poster goats” on the Colored Boer Goats mailing list.
