About Us & Billy-Bob’s Boers
Welcome to our web site. We are a small, family farm in Southern California raising percentage Boer goats for meat production. We have been doing this for about nine years, starting with a Nubian buck and three half Boer does, eventually moving up to a Fullblood Boer buck, and about thirty percentage does. We now have two Fullblood does, and a handful of American Purebreds through our breeding program.Every year we hold back a few kids, and sell the rest. In 2006, we implemented a rating system based on points of confirmation and style that we feel we need to focus on and better in our herd. These points were assigned specific values and all of our animals have been
evaluated using it. Animals not meeting up to the standard we seek are put on the sales list, and culled from the herd.
Our sires for this year’s kids crop are Guido and Angus. These kids will be more then suitable for 4-H and other youth projects, as well as replacement stock for breeding herds. We expect a lot of color out of our ‘08 - ‘09 kid crop.
Each year we keep a waiting list for kids; if you would like to be added to it, please send us an email with your first and last name, phone number where we can reach you, and email address if you have one. Also include what you are looking for and any specific sire or dams you would like kids out of. Our breedings are all done for the year, but you can consult our kidding schedule to see who was bred to who.
Our goats are fed on horse quality alfalfa year round, with little to no access to browse. They do not get grain, and are not exercised. They receive the autogeneous CL vaccine yearly, and BoSe as a Selenium supplement. What you see when you look at our kids is the product of genetics, not extra feed and medications.
Our wethers are priced at $70.00 each at weaning, and doe kids are slightly higher, ranging from $75.00 to $175.00, depending on quality. Fullblood kids start at $125.00. Please use the menu at right to navigate the site, and view the sales pages as they are listed. We try to keep up-to-date photos of all our animals but sometimes we do get behind on things.
We hope to hear from you soon!
P.S.- some of our pages have not yet been moved over to the new format; hopefully we will soon have things up to date and all incorporated into the current look!
